When “Busy” Becomes the Loop
I came across this post from Typewriters Voice and thought it captured something many people experience.
Life can become very repetitive without us even noticing. We wake up, get everyone organised, go to work, answer messages, manage appointments, prepare dinner, tidy up and start thinking about what needs to happen tomorrow.
Then we wake up and do it all again.
There is nothing wrong with being busy. Sometimes life simply is busy. The difficulty comes when we have been pushing through for so long that we stop noticing how tired, overwhelmed or disconnected we have become.
We often do not realise how much we are carrying until something small tips us over. We may become unusually irritable, cry over something that would not normally upset us, struggle to concentrate, or feel completely exhausted despite continuing to get everything done.
This does not mean we are failing or that we are not coping. It may simply mean that we have been coping with too much for too long.
Stepping out of the loop does not always require a major life change. It might begin with recognising what has been happening, being honest about what we need and making one small adjustment.
Perhaps there is something we can leave until tomorrow. Maybe we need to ask for help, say no to something, take a proper break or allow ourselves to rest without feeling that we first need to earn it.
We do not need to have everything worked out. Sometimes the first step is simply noticing that the way things are going is no longer working for us.
